Our First Bouncing Baby Buffalo

Our fist calf was born today! Coming into the world at 50lbs, these cute little guys can move with the herd in just a couple of hours. Buffalo horns, hooves, and some of their social behaviors have been honed through thousands of years of battling hungry packs of prairie wolves during calving season. Mom, aunts, and dad are standing guard constantly. This little guy is in no danger from our neighbor's marauding pack of dogs.

Our growing little herd is still on its original 10 acres. The birth of this calf is a welcome sign, and makes us even more anxious to get the new farm ready for the buffalo.
