Home on the Range

One of the most basic tenets of Choctaw traditional culture is the importance of living in balance with the land around us.  Every day, the timeless wisdom of that simple teaching becomes more obvious as humanity's unbalanced relationship with this planet increasingly threatens our own future.   We can't turn back the hands of time, but it is possible to adapt the wisdom that our ancestors had for living with the land to modern day realities. This can range from revitalizing a gem of traditional ecological knowledge, to adopting new ways of doing things that reincarnate ancient wisdom in our modern world.

In the culmination of 5 years of planning and work, we moved to the Farmstead in late 2019.  We live in a one-of-a-kind, earth friendly home, which we designed and helped to build. This transition represents a change in our lifestyle that offers a new opportunity to learn about living with the land while continuing to function in mainstream society.
