Home on the Range
One of the most basic tenets of Choctaw traditional culture is the importance of living in balance with the land around us. Every day, the timeless wisdom of that simple teaching becomes more obvious as humanity's unbalanced relationship with this planet increasingly threatens our own future. We can't turn back the hands of time, but it is possible to adapt the wisdom that our ancestors had for living with the land to modern day realities. This can range from revitalizing a gem of traditional ecological knowledge, to adopting new ways of doing things that reincarnate ancient wisdom in our modern world.
In 2019, we are moving our home to the Nan Away Farmstead. The transition represents a change in our lifestyle that offers a new opportunity to learn about living with the land. Blogs under the "Home on the Range" heading, are about this journey. Topics range from things we are learning in our effort to build and live in a green home to new experiences with the intricate web of life that God has put on the farm.
